I'm not Holiness, I wasn't raised that way, but it's always in the back of my mind. Long hair, long skirts, I'm not convicted. But should I be? I have been raised Baptist then put into a Pentecostal church and I love the anointing, speaking in tongues, and being able to talk about the HOLY SPIRIT. Now I am in a Baptist Church once more and I love it, but as to being outside of Church, I want to make my foundation of faith, just as my older brother has. He is strong in the Lord and though He's gullible sometimes, I love him, and I know he'll do what's right for God and himself. He's strong. Me, always sort of in that shadow, isn't. I have been through alot of Church hurt and don't really trust half of anything Godly anymore because of it. I need that prayer that I will make myself strong and I will do the things God has asked me to. But, I want my foundation.
I've been saved as long as I can remember and I am a very convicted person - I can convince myself that trees have leaves when it's snowing. Well, not literally, but when it comes to Spirituality, I can.
Please help!I have a Holiness friend at school and my parents always say they're confused, but really I'm wondering why they're confused.

How Holy do you need to be without being Holiness, and what is it that Holiness people believe that they're confused about?

Please help me, because I'm the confused person!

To whom it may concern:
You and I both have some similarities in our Christian upbringing. I was raised inthe Pentecostal church, and then had turned to the baptist church at one point. Those are in some what two extremes that teaches you about Holiness, and The gifts of the spirit in very different ways. So I can see where the confusion hits. Question is what is holiness? And how can one establish their foundation? Holiness can not be obtained by how much you pray,by how much you read your bible,or by the gifts or fruits of the spirit. Holiness comes the moment you decide to accept Christ as your Lord and savior. Let me explain.The moment you give your life to Christ, the blood of Christ cleanses you. And now you dont live but Christ lives in you.So when the father sees you, he sees his son.It is in that moment that he sees YOU, holy.Prayer helps you build your relationship and intamacy with Christ. The bible teaches you how to build your relationship with God, and the holy spirit will guide you. Your foundation is built on your relationship with Christ. Not on the gifts or fruits of the spirits. The fruits and the gifts are a by product of your relationship with God.Example Jeremiah chapter 1. Talks about how before you were born, God already had placed a gift inside of you. The book of Matthews speaks about people who Had gifts but God never knew them. So what im tryin to say, is dont depend on what man, doctrines, and religon has taught you. Depend on the holyspirit. Holiness is not something that you can obtain by your own effort, It is not because of the way you dress, or the length of you hair, tattoos, or any apperances. The bible says by the fruit you shall know them.
